This model of uDecor polyurethane flex molding is pre-manufactured to be used as a standard stick of molding with the capabilities to be used around softly curved walls. Since it is not a post-project fabricated item, it will not be able to complete tight bends such as small circular curves or arches, eyebrow shapes or half circles. The CM-1001 Flex is slightly smaller by 1/16" than the CM-1001 non-flex. It measures 92" long, and 3.9" tall and 3.9" wide.

Even though this is a flexible version of one of our standard molding models, it will still be pre-primed for paint. It is installed with architectural adhesive and/or finish nails. It can also be finished with caulk, spackle and your choice of paint, just like wood or MDF. A major advantage of polyurethane is that it will not expand, contract or warp over time with changes in humidity. It's safe to install in rooms with the presence of moisture like bathrooms and kitchens. This product will not encourage the growth of mold or mildew, and it will never rot.

Pro-Tip-
When planning for crown molding, inspect the walls and ceiling to see if any vents or other objects are within the footprint of the molding. Consider mitered returns at the ends of any molding runs that may be interrupted by these items. Allow 48 hours for the molding to acclimatize to the conditions where it will be installed.

Painting-
It is easier to paint the molding before installation. Working at waist level is always better than working over your head. Paint your molding before you start the installation process. Then touch up the imperfections after you are done with the install.

ALWAYS test a section with your paint of choice before committing to painting all of your molding. Paint formulations change all the time and you want to be sure there is no adverse interaction between your paint and the primer on the molding.

Joining Pieces-
Because the CM-1001 Flex is slightly smaller by 1/16" than the CM-1001 non-flex, we recommend to use blocks - MC-4008 - for the joints to achieve a uniform appearance. Always use an appropriate amount of adhesive on the ends of the molding. This prevents the molding from separating as the house walls expand and contract with temperature changes.

Last Piece on a Wall-
For a tight fit and seams, cut the last piece that is going to be on a wall just a little long. 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch is usually enough to allow you to snap that piece in place making sure all your joints stay nice and tight.

Finishing The Job-
Use Spackle to fill in nail holes and painters caulk on the edges between the molding and the wall and ceiling. Touch up these areas with paint.

25 Year Limited Warranty

You're making a beautiful upgrade to your home and we're here to help protect that investment. We guarantee that your polyurethane millwork will be free from manufacturing defects for twenty-five years from the original date of purchase.

Warranty Conditions and Limitations

This warranty covers material defects in our polyurethane products when used in standard applications where temperatures do not exceed 150°F. It does not cover labor, consequential or incidental damages. This warranty is not transferable and applies to the original purchaser only.

  • Polyurethane products are for decorative uses only.
  • Polyurethane products need a finish coat of paint during installation; it is the purchaser's responsibility to make sure their paint works well with the product (test and let dry on a small piece first).
  • Before installation, allow your polyurethane product to acclimate to room temperature for 15 minutes.
  • All polyurethane moldings must be installed with tight fitting joints (see installation instructions) as well as adhesive between the joints to prevent seams from expanding during changes in season.
