The FM-7130 Flat Molding is a rope molding typically used for chair rail & casing or door & window trim. The molding is 1" tall and protrudes out 1/2".

Designed for use as chair rail, wall and ceiling relief, and door and window trim, our flat moldings are versatile, easy to install, and are the backbone of interior design. Create that amazing ceiling you've always dreamed about, update those old, boring kitchen cabinets, or create the look of wainscoting on your walls, all at a fraction of the cost.

uDecor accent features are manufactured with a dense architectural polyurethane compound (not Styrofoam) that allows them to be very durable and 100% waterproof.

A major advantage of polyurethane is that it is safe to install in rooms with the presence of moisture like bathrooms and kitchens. This product will not encourage the growth of mold or mildew.

Before you Begin -
When planning for chair rail or other moldings, inspect the walls and/or ceiling to see if any vents or other objects are within the footprint of the moldings. Consider mitered returns at the ends of any molding runs that may be interrupted by these items. Allow 48 hours for the molding to acclimatize to the conditions where it will be installed.

Painting -
Since working at waist level is usually easier than working over your head, we recommend painting the molding before beginning the installation process. Imperfections can be touched up after you have completed the install.

ALWAYS test a section of the front of the molding with your paint choice before committing to painting all of your molding. Most home latex paints work great on our molding.

Joining Pieces -
Always use an appropriate amount of adhesive on the end of any of the molding being joined end to end. This prevents the molding from separating as the house walls expand and contract from temperature changes.

Last Piece on a Wall -
For a tight fit and seams, cut the last piece that is going to be on a wall just a little long. 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch is usually enough to allow you to snap that piece in place making sure all your joints stay nice and tight.

Lining Up The Pieces -
When two pieces of molding are being joined together in a run (end to end) leave the last two feet of the open end of the installed molding loose so you can have some alignment room when you join the next piece.

Finishing The Job -
Use Spackle to fill in nail holes and painters caulk on the edges between the molding and the wall and ceiling. Touch up these areas with paint.

25 Year Limited Warranty

You're making a beautiful upgrade to your home and we're here to help protect that investment. We guarantee that your polyurethane millwork will be free from manufacturing defects for twenty-five years from the original date of purchase.

Warranty Conditions and Limitations

This warranty covers material defects in our polyurethane products when used in standard applications where temperatures do not exceed 150°F. It does not cover labor, consequential or incidental damages. This warranty is not transferable and applies to the original purchaser only.

  • Polyurethane products are for decorative uses only.
  • Polyurethane products need a finish coat of paint during installation; it is the purchaser's responsibility to make sure their paint works well with the product (test and let dry on a small piece first).
  • Before installation, allow your polyurethane product to acclimate to room temperature for 15 minutes.
  • All polyurethane moldings must be installed with tight fitting joints (see installation instructions) as well as adhesive between the joints to prevent seams from expanding during changes in season.

We're Ready to Help

Unlike a car, not much can go wrong with a polyurethane product since polyurethane doesn't absorb moisture and won't be affected by insects. However, in the rare event that you do encounter a defect with your product, we're here and ready to help. Just give us a call and we'll work with you to identify the problem and, in case of defect, supply you with replacements.
