CM-2015 Crown Molding is a smooth, 4-1/8" breadth crown molding typically used in rooms with ceiling heights of 8' - 9'.

uDecor crown molding is manufactured with a dense architectural polyurethane compound (not Styrofoam). Polyurethane is durable and 100% waterproof. The material can be sanded to shape just like wood.

A major advantage of polyurethane is that it is safe to install in rooms with the presence of moisture like bathrooms and kitchens. This product will not encourage the growth of mold or mildew.

This molding is delivered pre-primed for most paints. Always test your paint on a small section to make sure there are no compatibility issues with the paint and primer. Most home latex paints work great on our molding.

Read the DIY Pro Tips section about using adhesive when installing.

  • Breadth - the distance between the outer contact point with the ceiling to the bottom contact point with the wall.
  • Height - the distance between the ceiling and the bottom contact point with the wall.
  • Width - the distance between the wall and outer contact point with the ceiling. The breadth is the hypotenuse of the right triangle whose legs are the width and the height.

Our crown molding installation video, walks you step-by-step through a full installation, including how to measure for crown molding, with plenty of tips on how to make your project look amazing. Below are some of the key things to remember.

Use Adhesive for a Lasting, Seamless Finish
Apply a small bead of adhesive along the length of the molding on the back where it contacts the wall and the ceiling (watch). Finish nails help secure the molding while the adhesive sets. Most importantly, apply adhesive between any molding being joined end-to-end.  You will need 1 tube of adhesive for about every 6 pieces of molding. Loctite’s PowerGrab or PL Premium work well in most applications.

The Final Piece
Cut the last piece you install on each wall just a little long. 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch is usually enough to allow you to snap that piece in place, making sure all your joints stay nice and tight. This is easiest to do when you leave the last two feet of the previous piece unnailed (watch).

Our moldings do not need to be primed. Plus, since polyurethane does not absorb moisture, paints that are self-priming or a Paint & Primer in One may not dry properly. Standard latex paint is less expensive and will give you the best result.

Be Mindful of Temperature Effects
All materials expand and contract with changes in temperature. For best results, when installing on a hot day, keep the molding inside until you are ready to make your cut.

25 Year Limited Warranty

Warranty Conditions and Limitations

This warranty covers material defects in our polyurethane products when used in standard applications where temperatures do not exceed 150°F. It does not cover labor, consequential or incidental damages. This warranty is not transferable and applies to the original purchaser only.

  • Polyurethane products are for decorative uses only.
  • Polyurethane products need a finish coat of paint during installation; it is the purchaser's responsibility to make sure their paint works well with the product (test and let dry on a small piece first).
  • Before installation, allow your polyurethane product to acclimate to room temperature for 15 minutes.
  • All polyurethane moldings must be installed with tight fitting joints (see installation instructions) as well as adhesive between the joints to prevent seams from expanding during changes in season.

Great Product

Looks great and easy to install. My only issue is I couldn't get 16' pieces. The 8 footers took much longer to install.

Hi Adam, thank you for taking time to share your experience! Longer pieces would be more convenient, but shipping costs would make them prohibitively expensive. So while these took longer to install, you got them at a great value and people often find them easier to move and store during their project. We're here to help along the way, so don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks again for your review, and for including us in your project!

Looks classic and modern

Love the finished look! Looks like real wood, but easier to install. Thinking of completing living/dining rooms with same product. Highly recommend.

Crown molding adds nice touch

I used the u-decor molding on my balcony to replace metal flashing on the wall to ceiling joint which had gaps and didn't look good. The new crown molding went up easily. With a miter saw rental from Home Depot the joints were cut with ease and the job was quick. Highly recommend the u-decor molding, and the price was good too.

Easy to use and arrived totally protected

The product is fun to work with and goes up as easily as the marketing claimed. I highly recommend using a 23 gauge pin nail-gun, no bigger.

Better than expected

I really wanted real wood crown but couldn't find this exact profile so I took a chance on this plastic molding. I've been pleasantly surprised. It's easy to work with and stronger than I thought it would be.

Hi Kelly, thank you for taking the time to share your review! We're so glad that your project went smoothly. Our polyurethane molding is shipped pre-primed and ready for paint, and that smooth surface and lightweight design is often mistaken for plastic. The other benefits versus traditional wood molding is that it won't age due to moisture as it is waterproof, and it is much less susceptible to expansion and contraction with the changes in seasons. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us. Thanks again for sharing your experience, and including us in your project!

Rounded back

Looks great, but it is rounded in the back, not flat like every other crown I have ever worked with is. Makes it hard to work with.

Caryn, thank you for taking the time to share your review! We're glad to hear that you love the look. The back of the molding is designed with minimal material to reduce cost, weight, and environmental impact. You're right, traditional molding used to have a flat back, which made cutting easy, so your frustration is understandable. Using a miter box or miter saw should provide great cuts each time and, the molding being polyurethane, sanding or trimming should be a breeze. The other benefit to the design is that we can ship more per box, meaning lower costs and better value. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, we'd love to help! Thanks again for sharing your experience, and including us in your project.

Love the molding, shipping was a problem

I was remodeling my home and wanted to finish before Christmas. There were 2 boxes. One was delivered 5 days despite (despite 3 messages from FedEx saying that it would be delivered earlier). The 2nd box came even later. With such a tight schedule, this delayed everything. The molding itself looks great. It makes all of the rooms look so much bigger. It is so lightweight that one person could install it rather than two. The paint went on beautifully. My sister did notice that with the high gloss paint, the moldings look exceptionally shiny - which suggests that the material is not wood. I think they look fabulous.
