Recommended Border Tile

Orb Ceiling Tile - Sand

We recommend using Orb Ceiling Tile - Sand as a border tile for Petal Ceiling Tile - Sand.

For tiles that either project down into the room or are coffered (recess up into the ceiling), the finished look is often better when using a border tile for partial tiles on the room's perimeter.

These thermoform tiles are made from UV Stabilized .013" thick vinyl plastic. They are designed to provide all the functionality of conventional drop ceiling tiles at a fraction of the weight. The feather-light construction makes them a breeze to install, easy to clean, stain resistant, water resistant, dust free, and eco friendly! Installation is fast and couldn't be any easier.

Designed to fit all standard 15/16" T-Bar Ceiling Systems. Will not fit in a 9/16" grid, please measure the visible width of your grid.

Not recommended for direct mount installation

Most of the thermoform ceiling tiles come in two sizes, 2'x2' and 2'x4', but if you have a 2x4 grid ceiling and would prefer the look of the 2x2 ceiling tiles, simply insert a 2' center T bar available online or at most local hardware stores...it's easy!

5 Year ProShield Warranty
The ceiling tile manufacturer guarantees that your ceiling tiles will be free from manufacturing defects for a period of five years from the date of purchase. Limitations apply. See full warranty information below.

UL Listing/Certification
ProLite ceiling tiles bearing this mark are UL tested and approved drop-out ceiling panels that can be installed beneath fire sprinklers. When exposed to heat from a developing fire, drop-out ceiling panels soften, distort, and fall from the ceiling grid. Heat from the growing fire activates the sprinkler which, unimpeded by the panels, controls or extinguishes the fire.

Highlights:
The Petal Grid Tile is an attention grabbing design that is sure to make a pretty impression. Being that it is Class A Fire rated, it is an excellent choice for most businesses and homes. We are also proud to say that it is made in the USA.

Things to Consider:
The Petal tile is not suitable for use as a direct mount tile, since it is not flat on the back.

While only .013" thick, the embossed design gives it the rigidity and structure needed to support itself in the grid without sagging. To avoid the risk of sagging, we discourage placing any weight directly on the tile, with the exception of our Soniguard insulation; it has been tested and approved for this purpose as an alternative to traditional insulation. If you would like to keep your existing acoustical tile in the grid for insulation or sound barrier purposes, we recommend that you place it above the framework so that it is not putting any weight on the Petal.

Since your ceiling will more than likely have partial tiles at the perimeter, you will have to cut the tiles to size for those areas. Since the Petal tile projects .55" below the grid, it isn't suitable to be used as a partial tile. Not to worry, since we have many great border tile options. You will notice that we have them conveniently linked for your selection on the product details page. If your grid is already white and in good condition, it should match the white Petal tile very well. If you are going with a colored option, we highly recommend that you consider the Grid Tape or Grid Strips since they are color coordinated with the ProLite collection. If you would prefer to avoid the extra expense, you can of course paint your grid as well.

Greenguard
Greenguard Gold Certification offers strict certification criteria that considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals (such as children and the elderly), and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. It is referenced by both The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building Rating System. Click here for more information.

UL Listing/Certification
Certain ProLite ceiling tiles are approved drop-out ceiling panels that can be installed beneath fire sprinklers. When exposed to heat from a developing fire, drop-out ceiling panels soften, distort, and fall from the ceiling grid. Heat from the growing fire activates the sprinkler which, unimpeded by the panels, controls or extinguishes the fire. Click here for more information.

Waterproof
Materials used in the construction of the tile(s) are 100% waterproof.

Class A Fire Rated
Tiles have been tested in accordance with ASTM 84e and scored a Class A rating for flame spread and smoke generation.

Absolutely perfect!!

The ceiling tiles/panel light tiles look! I have had so many compliments from my clients, some of which I have referred to your site to buy the same panels. The frosted tiles over the panel lights create the perfect soft, yet true color lighting to do hair/hair color. Thank you so much for working with me on my smaller-amount-than-required purchase. I really appreciate the excellent customer service and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome!!

Great alternative to taking down an ugly illuminated ceiling

This is the second time in 11 years Ive used. Ceilume ceiling tiles. The first yellowed so I hope these dont. We love the sculptured look of them, very 70s space age.

Prettyist ceiling in town

With a little difficulty we got the tiles in the existing overhead framework. Difficult because the edges had to be trimmed to fit the openings. Once it was cut to fit, we still had trouble with keeping it flat but fixed that by using strips of masking tape attached at the corners of each tile and its wooden frame. Removed the tape next day and the problem was solved. Some tedious work but it was so worth it. This is an overhead grid of six panels (2 x2 tiles) with fluorescent lights above them. They create a beautiful effect and I couldn't be more pleased. Everyone is impressed with my beautiful kitchen lighting.

Perfect fit!

I've purchased this tile in the past and it looked great. When we were starting to remodel some office space the same tile was requested, just because everyone here liked the way it looked. So due to the quality and appearance another order was placed. Thank you very much!

Good gook and very affordable ceiling tiles

The tiles work very well for our powder room ceiling. They look much more expensive than we paid for . The cut off one star bc one of the tiles (and we ordered only 8) was bend and dusted .Obviously they don't check before sending to the customer. Other then that ;easy to install , fast and great look

Too thin

When putting these tiles up if u press to hard u will invert the tile then trying to get it back in shape is all but impossible

We appreciate you taking the time to let us know of the issue. After going over your project and inspecting the photographs it appears that the tiles were installed directly against the ceiling. The petal tile is designed to lay in a Standard T-Bar Grid system so we can certainly understand why you experienced the issues. We will be in contact to try and help resolve this problem.

Transforms the area

The transformation as a result of the new tiles is amazing and eye-catching. Everyone who has seen the work has admired it. And the tiles were easy to install - they had to be with 357 of them!

Fantastic Tile

Looks awesome alternated with the Orb Ceiling Tile. However if you have to cut down the tile to fit around the edges of the room, this design is tough to fit in the grid as it hangs lower than the grid.

Thank you for the kind comments Stephanie! As Stephanie mentioned, this tile is best used as a full tile and you'll probably want to select a different tile for your perimeter tiles. For the Petal, we recommend using the Orb for the border tiles. It matches well to the Petal and is easily cut to size for partial tiles around the room's perimeter.
