Product Description

BB-9789 Baseboard Molding is a 8-3/4" tall Baseboard molding. These baseboards are lightweight, yet very strong to withstand the impact of everyday living (vacuum cleaners, kids, etc.). The lengths make them easy to work with so you can install them quickly and they are very consistent so you can neatly finish any seams for a professional installation

uDecor Baseboards are manufactured with a dense architectural polyurethane compound (not Styrofoam). Polyurethane is durable and 100% waterproof. The material can be sanded to shape just like wood.

A major advantage of polyurethane is that it is safe to install in rooms with the presence of moisture like bathrooms and kitchens. This product will not encourage the growth of mold or mildew.

Installation is simplified with the use of modern adhesives. Small finish nails are used to secure the molding while the adhesives set. See below for installation instructions.

This molding is delivered pre-primed for most paints. Always test your paint on a small section to make sure there are no compatibility issues with the paint and primer. Most home latex paints work great on our molding.

Before you Begin -
When planning for chair rail or other moldings, inspect the walls and/or ceiling to see if any vents or other objects are within the footprint of the moldings. Consider mitered returns at the ends of any molding runs that may be interrupted by these items. Allow 48 hours for the molding to acclimatize to the conditions where it will be installed.

Painting -
Since working at waist level is usually easier than working over your head, we recommend painting the molding before beginning the installation process. Imperfections can be touched up after you have completed the install.

ALWAYS test a section of the front of the molding with your paint choice before committing to painting all of your molding. Most home latex paints work great on our molding.

Joining Pieces -
Always use an appropriate amount of adhesive on the end of any of the molding being joined end to end. This prevents the molding from separating as the house walls expand and contract from temperature changes.

Last Piece on a Wall -
For a tight fit and seams, cut the last piece that is going to be on a wall just a little long. 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch is usually enough to allow you to snap that piece in place making sure all your joints stay nice and tight.

Lining Up The Pieces -
When two pieces of molding are being joined together in a run (end to end) leave the last two feet of the open end of the installed molding loose so you can have some alignment room when you join the next piece.

Finishing The Job -
Use Spackle to fill in nail holes and painters caulk on the edges between the molding and the wall and ceiling. Touch up these areas with paint.

25 Year Limited Warranty

You're making a beautiful upgrade to your home and we're here to help protect that investment. We guarantee that your polyurethane millwork will be free from manufacturing defects for twenty-five years from the original date of purchase.

Warranty Conditions and Limitations

This warranty covers material defects in our polyurethane products when used in standard applications where temperatures do not exceed 150°F. It does not cover labor, consequential or incidental damages. This warranty is not transferable and applies to the original purchaser only.

  • Polyurethane products are for decorative uses only.
  • Polyurethane products need a finish coat of paint during installation; it is the purchaser's responsibility to make sure their paint works well with the product (test and let dry on a small piece first).
  • Before installation, allow your polyurethane product to acclimate to room temperature for 15 minutes.
  • All polyurethane moldings must be installed with tight fitting joints (see installation instructions) as well as adhesive between the joints to prevent seams from expanding during changes in season.

We're Ready to Help

Unlike a car, not much can go wrong with a polyurethane product since polyurethane doesn't absorb moisture and won't be affected by insects. However, in the rare event that you do encounter a defect with your product, we're here and ready to help. Just give us a call and we'll work with you to identify the problem and, in case of defect, supply you with replacements.

Allow 48 hours for the molding to acclimatize to the conditions where it will be installed.

Creative Solution

We used this baseboard (inverted) to make a 22-ft. long, light weight cornice board over our glass sliding doors. It was a perfect, cost effective and good looking solution.

Stately

I am restoring a C year old Antebellum. What was left of the old baseboards couldn't be saved. Problem was finding a large grand looking baseboards that fits the period. After ordering a sample, I was elated to the design and grand size. Perfection. Everyone that sees them react to say how did you restore such grand baseboards. Then when told they are new ,speechless with awe.

Stunning

I purchased three different moldings from uDecor for our 215 year old certified nationally historic home in Philadelphia. I spent hours researching companies and products. uDecor had the best looking product with sound reviews and excellent prices. I am ecstatic with my choice. The molding looks so stunning. I hung the chair rail myself and had help with crown and baseboard. Every contractor asked for the details as they were so impressed with the product. Since installation, people continually comment on our amazing and beautiful molding. The process was so seamless. They got the product to me quickly and efficiently and followed up with personal emails. Fantastic company.

Great service, great product

We ordered the 'fancy' baseboard to use as a window apron! Though, it seemed unorthodox, the window transformation was incredible!! The product was not only easy to work with, it was beautiful!!! We will continue to be loyal customers as projects arise.
